Officially inaugurated in 1965, when a group of Fraser Valley teams got together to form the Fraser Valley Soccer League, the FVSL hasn’t stopped growing since.

By the 2000s, we were registering more than 100 teams a year at all levels from Premier to U21, including three Masters divisions. Drawing teams and players from across the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley, the FVSL is affiliated with the British Columbia Soccer Association.

In 2015, we expanded our offering to our members by adding a spring/summer season, which attracted some 50 teams. This extended season remains very popular.

By 2023, more than 150 teams — and 4,000 players — signed up to our league for winter soccer, including 45 teams from Burnaby, with the merger of Burnaby Men’s Soccer League into the FVSL. These numbers — together with the spring/summer season — continue to this day, making us the largest adult soccer league in British Columbia.

The FVSL offers nine cup competitions, including the Pakenham Cup, introduced in 1908 — famous for being the oldest cup still in competition in Canada.
